Below we will talk about the Audiweb Database planning tape by analyzing the total data of internet use referring to the month of December 2022, collected according to the Audiweb 2.0 methodology. adapted to the new cookieless scenario and compared it with previous months’ data.
In December, internet users from Computers or Mobile (Smartphones and Tablets) reached 43,7 million unique users, equal to 74,7% of Italians aged 2 and over. 91,5% of the population surfed from Mobile - Smartphone and / or Tablet -, a percentage that remains the same compared to November 2022 surveys.
Data per average day
Analyzing the data per average day in December, the total registered audience was 36,2 million unique users divided as follows: 33,9 million users surfed from Mobile, then Smartphones and Tablet, (equal to 79,2% of Italians aged 18-74) while 11 million users were online from computers (equal to 19,9% of Italians aged 2 and over). Online time per person on an average day was around 2 hours and 39 minutes.
The figure recorded a slight increase on an average day compared to the previous month, with slight differences dictated by age and lifestyle. In general, the total digital audience saw online 64,5% of men (18,3 million) and 59,37% of women (17,8 million).
Data based on geographical origin
Focusing on the use of online on the average day of November based on the different geographical areas, also in this case there was a slight increase in values compared to the previous month. Specifically, 65,2% of the population of the Northwest (10,2 million), 61,9% of the population of the Northeast (about 7,1 million), 64% of the Central area were online (7,5 million) and 57,8% of the South and Islands area (11, million).
Going into detail about the time spent by gender and in different age groups, we can see that men spent an average of 2 hours and 34 minutes online in the day, while women spent 2 hours and 50 minutes, both figures in line with last month.
Data by age group
As regards the different age groups, on the other hand, the use of the internet in December saw 100% of the population aged 18-24 online, which is certainly an important number; 98,4% of the 25-34 year olds; 98,8% of the 35-44 year olds; 97,8% of the 45-54 year olds; 93,6% of the 55-64 year olds; and finally 45,4% of the over 65 year olds, all of which are up from the previous month.
Total digital audience 2022
The year that ended maintained a stable total digital audience compared to the previous year, reaching 74,8% of the population aged 2 and older (+0,4% compared to 2021). About 44 million individuals online on average per month, from the detected devices (Computer and Mobile). On the average day 36,8% million people (62,6% of individuals 2 years and older), also stable from the previous year (+0,4%).
The online audience from mobile on the average day in 2022 reached 34 million online users, accounting for 83,2% of users aged 18-74. Online users in 2022 browsed for an average of 2 hours and 35 minutes on the average day and 65 hours and 45 minutes on the average month.
