Below, we will discuss the Audiweb Database planning tape, which includes the total Internet usage data for the month of April 2023, collected using the new Audiweb 2.0 methodology. In this month, the total digital audience from Internet access via computers or mobile devices (smartphones and tablets) reached 43.8 million unique users, equivalent to 74.8% of the Italian population aged 2 and above. This figure shows a slight increase compared to the previous month when the total digital audience reached 43.7 million, representing 74.7% of the Italian population aged two and above. It is interesting to note that mobile devices remain the most used by users, with 88% of the average daily online time spent on mobile, compared to 12% on computers.
Data per average day
Analyzing the data for the average day in April, there were nearly 36 million individuals (35,994,000) who accessed the Internet at least once during the average day using the detected devices (computers and mobile devices), spending 2 hours and 26 minutes online per person. Furthermore, 78.8% of the adult population accessed the Internet at least once using a mobile device (smartphone and/or tablet), spending 88% of the total online time on these devices, equivalent to 2 hours and 37 minutes per person.
Data by gender and age groups
Examining the profiles of online users during the average day of this survey month, we find that 59.4% are women aged 2 and above, while 63.6% are men. Specifically, women spend more time online via mobile devices (2 hours and 37 minutes) compared to men (2 hours and 16 minutes). As for the most engaged age groups, the top spot goes to the 35-44-year-olds, accounting for 87.9%, followed by 86.7% of the 45-54-year-olds, 83.7% of the 25-34-year-olds, and 83% of the 55-64-year-olds, which is in line with the previous month.
Data based on geographical origin
Focusing on online usage during the average day in April based on different geographical areas, there were 10.2 million users from the Northwest (64.7% of the population in this area), 7.2 million from the Northeast (62.5%), 7.1 million from the Central regions (60.9%), and 11.5 million from the South and Islands (58.6%). Compared to the previous month, there is a slight increase in users from the Northeast (+0.9%), while users from the Central (-3%) and Northwest (-0.9%) regions have decreased. The data for users from the South and Islands mostly remained unchanged (+0.2%).
