Compared to December 2016, access to Internet on the average mobile day continues to grow, even if slightly, both for men (46.3% online from mobile, +3.9%) and for women (50.6% online mobile, +4.3%) and more for the 55-74 age group (35.4% online, +33.6%). There is also an increase in the percentage of the same type of use of the vehicle in the North East (+7.9%), the Center (+2%) and the South and Islands (+10.7%).
Unique users connected to the Internet at least once in the month of December 2017 are 31,7 million with an average time of browsing of 54 hours and 54 minutes per person. If we analyze the data by the average day, we can see that the total audience amounts to 24,2 million users, recording an increase of 8.7% compared to the 2016 average.
As for the audience from Mobile devices during the period of December 2016, we can see that there are 21,3 million unique users monthly connected to the Internet, from the age group which goes from 18 to 74 years, with an average time of 45 hours and 54 minutes per person. The users connected by smartphone or tablet on the average day are 21,3 million with an average browsing time of 2 hours and 7 minutes per person.
The majority of the total time spent online during the month of December 2016 was generated by an Internet surfing from Mobile with 30,1 million unique users in the average day, against 25,9 million unique users from PC: this data shows the importance that users give to smartphone and tablets in their life and the time they devote to these devices.
Compared to 2016, there is an increase in the share of the population between 18 and 74 years that access mobile to some categories of entertainment sites: Video/Movies +14.5%, sites dedicated to ecommerce +15.8%, instant messaging applications +18.6%.
The age group 18 to 34 years confirms a high use of the Internet from Mobile, specifically the age group which goes from 18 to 24 years is 62,9% and 25-34 years are 62,3%.
Regarding the consumption data for the month of December, Search Sites and General Portals arrives to the first place with about 93% and 85,8% of online users. Then we find the Social Network with 84,3% of users and more than 13 hours per person.
