The Plenary of Netcomm eCommerce Forum
The focus of the fair this year is on the future of retail and innovative models of experience and service generated by the interaction between human and digital elements: Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Augmented Reality, Metaverso and NFT.
In this scenario, data are increasingly central to business strategies and must be managed in compliance with new national and European regulations while sustainability becomes an essential value for the development of businesses.
Let’s see in detail what emerged from the opening Plenary:
During the first day of Netcomm eCommerce Forum 2023 was presented the latest survey of eCommerce Observatory B2C Netcomm - School of Management of Politecnico di Milano.
Second the forecasts the online purchases of the Italians will grow of +13% until reaching 54 billion euros at the end of this year.
From the search emerges as the products mark a +8% regarding 2022 while the services will touch quota 18,8 billion. Clothing, Beauty and Informatics are the most dynamic sectors today (with increases of about 10%), while slowing the progression of Food & Grocery (+1% compared to twelve months ago). Among the services, the growth of the Tourism and Transport sector continues (+27% compared to 2022) and Ticketing for events. Online penetration of total retail purchases is 12%, stable compared to 2022.
The eighteenth edition of the eCommerce reference event investigates this year the frontiers of shopping experience, as suggested by the title "The Extended Retail: from Metaverses to Space Commerce".
Also according to the Netcomm survey, the purchasing experience of Italians is increasingly omnichannel: digital becomes a resource to guide the purchase decision. In 40% of cases, in fact, Italian consumers inform themselves online before buying in store, mainly through the consultation of a website, the use of a search engine or a comparator, and finally, through the tips available via social.
According to Netcomm NetRetail, more than half of online purchases are made via a mobile device (Smartphone or Tablet), the remaining from PC.
Based on the Delivery Index, the new research by Netcomm that monitors the volumes of eCommerce shipments in Italy and analyzes the needs and behaviors of online consumers recipients of parcels, made in collaboration with Poste Italiane, 160 million packages were shipped as a result of online purchases in the first quarter of 2023.
