How does BeReal work?
BeReal is a photo sharing social app, created in 2020 by two French co-founders, Kevin Perreau and Alexis Barreyat, aims to encourage people to be more authentic through a notification inviting them to be real, from that moment on, you have two minutes to take a picture and post it on the Feed, if the photo is posted late, the app obscures the user's Feed and prevents him from viewing friends' posts. After 24 hours, the pic disappears.
The BeReal app offers a different experience compared to other social platforms such as Instagram, with which it shares the mechanism for storing posted material but not the possibility of archiving content, the existence of likes and followers. BeReal app instead takes its cue from the TikTok social network as regards the duration of the contents but differs from it in the total absence, at least for the moment, of the video mode.

The reasons for the success of BeReal
Limiting to one photo per day increases focus on authenticity, plus other people's shots can't be seen unless you share something, thereby incentivizing posting and active participation, and eliminating the ability to spy without contribute, as instead often happens on other social networks.
BeReal has attracted the attention of major investors, with a current valuation of around $600 million. This could offer users more opportunities for their growth on social media.
Currently BeReal is the fourth most downloaded social app in the United States, Great Britain and France, right after Instagram, Snapchat and Pinterest and according to the company Sensor Tower, almost 6.8 million people have downloaded the app in the last two years.
Combined with other elements, BeReal can support effective and lasting communication, it can intercept the elusive generation Z and develop content that aims at brand awareness and brand reputation.
