What is the Metaverse

With Metaverse we mean a virtual reality parallel to the real one. Conceptually, it is an idea belonging to the world of gaming that becomes reality, bypassing the known and most used technological tools such as PC monitors and smartphones, taking advantage of other extensions and giving users the opportunity to immerse themselves through specially created products.

How the Metaverse was born: from Sandbox to Decentraland

The Sandbox was born in 2012, but the real boost was obtained in 2018 with the acquisition by Animoca Brands. Accessible to the public from the beginning of 2020, a game ecosystem developed where objects and games can be monetized through the blockchain.

With 2 million registered users thanks to the interest developed on their platform, we find the real big players in the market; from Adidas to Atari, Etoro, Gucci, Snoop Dogg, The Walking Dead etc ..

Decentraland was born in 2015 and opened to the public in February 2020. With 800,000 registered users and 500,000 monthly active users, it offers different experiences such as the possibility of visiting museums containing digital works (NFT), going to play in the casino or go to a concert. . The players of this metaverse are no less, from Samsung to JPMorgan, Chanel, Tommy Hilfiger, Dolce & Gabbana, etc.

And in Italy? What are we doing?

Lately we have been seeing companies or influencers that rather than contribute to the development of the Metaverse, a sector full of opportunities, create confusion and a distorted perception of opportunity.

How? By becoming promoters of the new digital trend, trying to ride the trend, however, combining inadequate and confused Marketing actions without respect to the new reality.
