In this news, we will talk about the distribution of the Audiweb Database, with the total data of internet use referring to the month of august 2021 collected according to the new Audiweb 2.0 methodology also comparing it with the data from previous months.
The month of August again records a slight decline, typical of the summer season and which began as early as June. In August, people using the Internet from Computers or Mobile devices (Smartphones and Tablets) have reached 43,6 million single users, corresponding to the 73,2% of Italians aged 2+.
Analyzing the data per average day in August, the total registered audience was 36.4 million unique users divided according to the following percentages: 33.7 million users surfed from Mobile, therefore Smartphone and Tabet, (equal 77.2% of Italians aged 18-74) and 10.6 million users were online from computers (equal to 17.8% of Italians aged 2 and over). Online time per person on the average day was around 2 hours and 14 minutes.
On the average day, the figure remains similar to the previous month, with slight differences dictated by age and lifestyles. Generally, the total digital audience sees 62.9% of men (18.3 million) and 59.2% of women (18.1 million) online.
By focusing on online use on the average day of August according to the different geographical areas, the data remained stable compared to the previous month. Specifically, 64.4% of the population of the North West (10.3 million), 60.1% of the population of the North East (about 7 million), 61.7% of the Central area (7,3 million) and 58.3% of the South and Islands area (11.9 million).
Going into the details of the time spent depending on the gender and in the different age groups, we can see that men spend an average of 2 hours and 7 minutes online on an average day, therefore two minutes more than the previous month, while women spend 2 hours online and 20 minutes, which is 6 minutes longer than in July. As for the different age groups, on the other hand, the use of the internet in August saw 99.2% of the population aged 18-24 online; 98.3% of the 25-34 years; 97.7% of the 35-44 range; 96.3% of the 45-54; 91.3% of the 55-64 group and finally 44.6% of the over 65s.
