In the early days of the digital age, when Google was still unable to answer user questions, Yahoo Answer was the place to ask anything, even the most bizarre.
The answer did not come from an algorithm, but from other users who provided the answers to the questions based on their personal experience and knowledge. This virtual place soon became a collector of questions - answers among the most original and disparate.
Over the years, many themes and issues have been addressed, from the most serious to the most witty and funny, many of which have allowed many children and students to solve heart and school problems such as various types of doubts, exercises, versions of Latin and summarized.
The decision to close, after 16 years of activity, is linked to several reasons, including the lack of moderation in the publication of comments and questions as well as the increasingly predominant role of social media.
Yahoo also stated that following the changing needs of the community, the free forum has been less and less used and for this reason it has decided to focus on other more useful products with the aim of providing its users with quality content, even in optics to fight the fake news spread on the web.
From 20 April it will therefore no longer be possible to publish questions and comments and among the main substitutes that are making their way on the web there seems to be the Quora site, very similar to Yahoo Answer but more structured and organized by topics.
For particularly nostalgic users, Yahoo offers until June 30 the opportunity to download a copy of the questions and answers published by the user over the years and then proceed with the definitive deletion of all content.
