Internet Audience January 2018

Users who have connected to the Internet from devices such as PC, smarphones or tablets in the month of January 2018 are 33.9 million, 61.8% of the Italian population.

An increase compared to the same period of 2017, which saw 30.7 million users navigate the same way. On the other hand, average navigation time has decreased: 53 hours and 12 minutes per person compared to 55 hours and 37 minutes.

Analyzing the data by average day, the total audience is represented by 24.5 million, connected on average for 2 hours and 22 minutes person. A slight growth figure compared to 2017 (23.5 million users, connected for 2 hours and 21 minutes).

Regarding the audience from Mobile devices during the period of January 2018, there are 24.5 million single users per month, between 18 and 74 years, connected to the Internet, with an average of 53 hours and 12 minutes of time spent for navigation per person. Also this time data, up compared to January 2017.

The average age of users connected by smartphone or tablet on the average day is 21.1 million with an average browsing time of 2 hours and 7 minutes per person.

Most of the total time spent online during the month of January 2018 was generated by Mobile Internet browsing with 21.1 million unique users on the average day, compared to 12.3 million unique PC users: this data highlights the importance that users attach to smartphones and tablets and the time they spend on these devices.

The age range of 18 to 54 years confirms a high use of the Internet from Mobile, specifically the age range from 25 to 34 years is equal to 62.1% of users while the 35-54 years are the 60.9%.

Regarding the time spent online on the average day, the band 25-34 is the one whose data are higher (2 hours and 36 minutes), while the band 35-54 years is just below (2 hours and 25 minutes).

With regard to consumption data in the month of January, the Research Sites stand at 91.3% and the Generalist Portals with 84.2% of online users. Following are the Internet Tools and Web Services with 83.3% and Social Networks with 81.7% of users and more than 14 hours per person.
