Nielsen compiles the ranking of the Top Ten most visited internet categories: on top search engines with 25.8 million of active users (93% of total) with an increase of 7.5% compared to March 2011.
Nielsen reveals the audience data and the web trends for the first three months of 2012. Internet users continue to grow; in March 2012 they was 27.7 million in Italy, 7.1% more than the same month in 2011 and also on a daily basis are 13.6 million active surfers, this represents an increase of 2.6% compared to 2010.
Here are the ranking of Top Ten online sites most visited: first position, search engines with 25.8 million users (93.2% of total), 7.5% more than 2011. In second place General Interest Portals and communities with 23.9 million Internet active users (+4.7% in the year) while in third place with 23.5 million, there are social media ( social networks, blogs and forums) , 6.5% more than March 2011. Film and video sites grow by 5.9% and is now nearly 20 million unique users.
Italians are Social Network addicted, in fact the time spent on social network is 7 hours and 26 minutes per month per person, much greater than other categories. A little bit different is the users behavior about Mobile Internet, in fact, 76% use mobile phones to read email, 44% use social media and 27% use geolocation services.
