According to Audiweb research in December 2012 in Italy, active users who monthly browse from a PC increased 6,3% (nearly 29 million active users in December), those who access the internet through tools such as smartphones or tablet arrived at about 23 million growing 25% last year. As for the users connected to the Internet, in December 2012 they exceeded 41 million, an increase of 6,1% compared to December 2011.

Regarding the tourism sector according to the data of the Consumer Confidence Q4 2012 on Christmas 2012, there was an increase of 18,3% of hotels and hotel reservations websites, 10,4% of "online travel agencies" and 6,6% of the airlines websites.
