Advertising September 2012

  • Nielsen data related to advertising spending in Italy for the first nine-month period 2012 have been published.

On the first nine month period of 2012 advertising spending is falling compared to the same period in 2011, with a decrease by -11,8%. The most relevant data concern Internet (+9,8%).

Nielsen analyzed data from January to September 2012, recording a total advertising spending in Italy for more than 5,4 billion euros.

Many media denote a negative growth.

Television shows a slowdown of -12,4%.  All the other media (Radio, Press, Outdoor and Transit) also record negative trends compared to 2011. Cinema records the worse situation: – 21,7% compared to 2011.

Internet records a substantial increase (+9,8%) even if the growth registered for this period is more moderate than the previous one.

In the  matter of total advertising spending of September 2012 versus September 2011, data show a negative trend with a decrease by -20,6%. Internet confirms his positive trend. In fact, comparing September 2012 data to September 2011 we can see an increase in advertising spending by +1,2%.

All the other media record a slowdown.
