Advertising June 2013

  • Nielsen data related to advertising spending in Italy for the first six-month period 2013 have been published

On the first six month period of 2013 advertising spending is falling compared to the same period in 2012, with a decrease by -17,4% and a total spending on advertising of just over € 3 billion. June 2013 ended with a -17,7% compared to June 2012, this figure confirms the negative trend of the previous months (January -15,3%, February -17,8, March -22,6%, April -18,3%, May -12,2%).

All media show a negative growth.

Cinema reports a variation of -25%. Then we can find Magazines (-24,3%), Newspapers (-23,7%) and Direct Mail (-23,1%). A less reduction is registered by Out of Home (-19,3%), TV (-16,4%), Radio (-14,4%), Transit (-12,3%) and Outdoor (-5,9%). Internet has a more limited decrease (-2,1%)

Regarding the sectors, the decrease is generalized, with the first two down respectively by -22.1% (food) and -26.6% (automotive). Telecommunications and distribution are under the double digits, but the only growth sector remains the computer (+42.9%), thanks to investments arising from the Communication of smartphones and tablets.
