Advertising August 2012

  • Nielsen data related to advertising spending in Italy for the first eight-month period 2012 have been published.


On the first eight month period of 2012 advertising spending is falling compared to the same period in 2011, with a decrease by -10,5%.The most relevant data concern Internet (+11%). 

Nielsen analyzed data from January to August 2012, recording a total advertising spending in Italy for more than 4,8 billion euros, with a decrease by -10,5% compared to 2011.

Many media denote a negative growth.

Television shows a slowdown of -10,9%.  All the other media (Radio, Press, Outdoor and Transit) also record negative trends compared to 2011. Cinema records the worse situation: -22,4% compared to 2011.

Internet records a substantial increase (+11%), surpassing 429 milion euros of investment.

In the  matter of total advertising spending of August 2012 versus August 2011, data show a negative trend with a decrease by -20%. Internet confirms his positive trend. In fact, comparing August 2012 data to August 2011 we can see an increase in advertising spending by +0,65%.

All the other media record a slowdown. The Out Of Home TV instead registers an increase by 5,64%
