Even in 2011 in Italy continues the growth of social networks, both in terms of users of existing social, that with the approach of new players like Google +.
According to the data from last Nielsen report, Italy is the country with the most users of social networks in the world, with 86% of Internet users connected though social. Italy is also the country with the highest time spent on social activities, almost one third of the online time spent.
In Italy the most used social networks, with 70% of surfers, is Facebook (21 million users), followed by Twitter (1.3 million users), LinkedIn (1 million users) and Google + (340,000 thousand users).
Facebook is the social network where Italian users spend a quarter of the their online time. The majority of users affirm to access to Facebook to watch the news on the wall of friends, to chat online, to post pictures, music and videos.
Social networks are indeed commonly used to maintain relationships with friends, but also to communicate and find information. In fact, 53% of Facebook users follow a brand page and 26.8% of online users follow the news through social network. Another social important for information is Twitter, which in Italy has around 350,000 tweets a day and an increase of 30% of users compared to 2010.
A new entry of the year in Italy is the Google social network, who opened registrations in July 2011 and in November this year has included the possibility of opening the brand page following Facebook model. Another social section to develop influence on consumer behavior.
Finally, note the spread of mobile accesses, which arrives on Facebook to 7.3% and 2.5% on Twitter, thanks to the spread of smartphone devices (+3.3%, with users who rose to 17.6%).
